ScaleLAB Terms of Service

Effective date: November 2, 2026

About these terms

These terms cover your use of scalelabconsulting.com and the ScaleLAB educational content and services described here. ScaleLAB is a sole proprietorship operated by Kelly Langford, based in Alberta, Canada.

Please read these terms before using the website or purchasing a service. Any additional terms presented and agreed at checkout, in a course offer, or in a signed consulting agreement also apply. A signed engagement agreement governs the consulting work it covers if it conflicts with these general website terms. These terms do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Our services

ScaleLAB provides education and consulting for established brands across industries exploring franchising, licensing, and the foundations of scalable growth. Services may include The Foundations of Franchising Course, a Franchise Readiness Assessment, operational systems, training and onboarding, and strategic development and support planning.

A website description does not establish an individual consulting engagement. The scope, deliverables, responsibilities, timeline, fees, and any continuing support for consulting work must be set out in a separate written agreement.

Education, advice, and outcomes

Website articles, course lessons, assessments, and planning tools provide education and business guidance. They do not, by themselves, establish that a business is ready to franchise or license its model, satisfy legal obligations, or replace tailored legal, accounting, tax, or other regulated professional advice.

Franchise readiness support may include Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) preparation as agreed in writing. Qualified legal counsel must address legal requirements and review. The scope of our preparation work and the responsibilities of ScaleLAB, you, and your advisers should be specified in the engagement agreement.

You remain responsible for business decisions, information you provide, and obtaining appropriate specialist advice. We do not guarantee franchise readiness, legal compliance, operator recruitment, revenue, profitability, or expansion success. Results depend on factors including your business, implementation, resources, and market conditions.

Course purchases and access

The Foundations of Franchising Course is a self paced course with nine modules. The advertised price is $465 CAD unless a different offer is expressly presented. Review the checkout for the currency, applicable taxes, final total, and purchase terms before paying.

Course access lasts 180 days from the purchase date. The course includes nine self paced modules and the assessments and planning tools described in the course offer. Any additional support or future updates are included only where expressly stated in that offer.

Please provide accurate account and billing details, protect your login credentials, and notify us of suspected unauthorised access. Unless an offer expressly allows otherwise, access is for the enrolled participant and must not be shared or resold.

Completing course exercises can help you develop an assessment, working planning documents, and initial priorities. Enrolment alone does not produce those outcomes, and working documents may need further development, testing, and professional review.

Refunds, cancellations, and rescheduling

You may request a course refund within 72 hours of purchase by emailing [email protected] with your name and purchase details. Under our voluntary refund policy, we refund 80% of the course fee and retain 20%. At the advertised course fee of $465 CAD, the refund is $372 CAD and the retained amount is $93 CAD, before any applicable tax adjustments. Refund requests received after 72 hours are not accepted under this policy. Any refund or cancellation rights required by applicable law remain unaffected, including any right to a full refund. Where those rights apply, they take precedence over this policy.

Consulting cancellation, rescheduling, payment, and refund terms are governed by the written agreement for the engagement. Any appointment conditions should be displayed before booking. A booking link does not, on its own, establish a paid consulting engagement.

Intellectual property and permitted use

Website content, branding, lessons, templates, and other materials belong to ScaleLAB or their respective licensors. Purchasing access does not transfer ownership.

Subject to the applicable offer, you may use purchased course materials for your own learning and internal business planning. You may complete and adapt provided working templates for that purpose. You may not reproduce the course for sale, distribute teaching materials, share account access, remove ownership notices, or use our materials to provide a competing training product without written permission.

Ownership, licences, confidentiality, and use of deliverables created during consulting work should be addressed in the applicable engagement agreement. You retain ownership of business information and materials you supply, subject to any separate agreement.

Information you provide and confidentiality

Provide accurate information and share only material you are entitled to disclose. Avoid sending unnecessary personal information or confidential documents through public forms.

An initial enquiry or booking does not create a separate nondisclosure agreement. Confidentiality commitments for consulting work should be recorded in the engagement agreement. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

Acceptable use

Do not use the website or course platform to breach the law, infringe another person’s rights, misrepresent your identity, send spam, interfere with service operation, distribute malicious software, or attempt unauthorised access. Do not copy or extract content in ways that violate applicable law or the rights of its owners.

Where reasonably necessary to address misuse or a security risk, access may be restricted or suspended, subject to applicable law and any contractual rights. Ordinary service problems and access disputes should be raised with us so we can investigate.

Other platforms and communications

Booking, course access, payments, and other functions may use external platforms, including Calendly and GoHighLevel. Their terms and privacy policies may also apply. Links do not imply that we control an external provider’s services or content.

We may send messages needed to respond to an enquiry or administer a booking, purchase, account, or engagement. Marketing communications are subject to applicable consent requirements and include a way to unsubscribe. Using the website does not automatically consent to unrelated marketing.

Availability and liability

We take reasonable steps to maintain the website and correct issues, but interruptions, errors, and changes may occur. Contact us if a problem prevents access to a purchased service.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, general website information is provided without a guarantee that it is complete, current, or suitable for a particular business decision. Nothing in these terms excludes a mandatory warranty, remedy, or liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.

Changes

We may update these website terms and show the current effective date. Material changes affecting an existing purchase or engagement will be handled in accordance with the agreement and applicable law. Updated terms do not automatically remove rights attached to an earlier purchase.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada, subject to mandatory laws and rights that may apply where you live.
